The SVP

The St Vincent de Paul Society

The SVP, founded in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frederic Ozanam, is an international lay organisation seeking, in a spirit of justice and charity, to help others, by person-to-person involvement.

The parish SVP was started in 1977 by John Mannix and Pat White, both now deceased. Although membership has been small, over 500 visits are made each year to people in their homes, in residential homes or hospitals. If appropriate and/or necessary, help can be sometimes be offered, either practical or financial.

All the work is confidential.
