There will be a retiring collection next weekend for the Day for Life, the day, initiated by the late Pope John Paul II, when the Catholic Church in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales dedicates to celebrating the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.

Sea Sunday is the day the Church remembers the important work that seafarers do. Across the world, congregations gather to thank God for seafarers, their families and the work that The Apostleship of the Sea does in supporting this most dangerous and perilous way of life.

Ring in the new!

The new Laudate hymn books are now in use, the dedication plates from the old hymnals have been transferred. If any names are missing it will be due to hymn books having gone walkabout.

Many of the plastic and wooden chairs that we use for the fair and at Christmas were in a dangerous condition, the Cathedral parish was disposing of its loose seating so 50 of their chairs have found a new home at St Clare’s.

Parents, children, governors, teachers past and present, and parishioners turned out at St Clare’s School in Middlesbrough to welcome Bishop Terry, who celebrated Mass with Fr John Loughlin (parish priest) and Fr Gerard Robinson (former pupil) on the occasion of the school’s 40th anniversary.

Plant Sale

The plant sale held last weekend raised a total of £116.25 (£71.25 on the actual sale and £45 on the raffle of the beautiful planted tub very kindly donated by Plantarama Garden Centre). The prize winner will be drawn after Mass this Sunday.
