Helping those in great need

The refugees have been put onto a new system to sustain them.

They have been given a card called an Azure card, which allows them to buy food in some shops. They are still not given any cash at all, so they cannot buy at cheaper outlets. They have no money for bus fares, phone calls etc. We are asking them to exchange some of the £35 Azure card for gift cards in Asda, Tesco or Sainsbury and to bring these to the drop-in at the Avenue Methodist Church on a Wednesday. These will be usually £5 or £10 cards.

If you feel you would like to help to make their lives better, please buy these cards at their face value from Gerry Butterfield or Barbara Morris, who go each week to give money in exchange for a gift card. We will try to get you the card you would like. Just order it.

Many thanks to all who have supported us in this project to help the destitute.

St Clare’s 200 Club

Were you among the lucky winners in our 200 club this year? Many of you were. Congratulations!

April’s draw will be the last one for the current year and it is now time for renewing your subscription. So don’t miss out. Get your numbers into the draw for 2010 – 2011

Thanks to new members, numbers increased to 233 this year, so that in turn raised prize- money to £110.00 in four prizes every month.

Profits of £1459.00 have contributed to the maintenance and upkeep of our parish. So our little lottery can make real money, as well as the lovely surprises every month!

It really would make a significant difference to prize money if we could get a membership of 250 or more.

Prize money is 50% of takings.

Please can you help to promote new members or buy more numbers yourself?
Just £12.00 per number, per year.

For renewal or new membership please collect your envelope at the back of the church for your subscription.

Cheques payable to ‘St Clare’s Church

£12.00 per number, annual payment, 6-monthly, or monthly payments acceptable

On behalf of Fr John and the Parish Council, we thank you once again for your loyal and continued support of the Parish through your club membership.

Please encourage your family and friends to do the same.

Anne Eason and Theresa Davies, Promoters
