Members of the House of Lords are to debate the use of human embryos in experiments on Monday 4th February. This is the last chance the House of Lords will have to stop the Bill before it goes to the House of Commons.
The Bill seeks, among other things, to
- extend the creation of embryonic children in the laboratory
- allow embryonic children to be abused and killed for a wider range of research purposes
- permit the creation of human-animal hybrid embryos.
Please write to one or more lords as soon as possible, urging them to move for a vote against the Bill. SPUC has produced a flyer listing members of the House of Lords to write to, and the key points to make.
Please contact SPUC on 020 7091 7091 or by e-mail at

Future Action for Congo
119 -121 Marton Rd (Trade Union Centre)
Many people who attended our earlier meeting had little idea of the issues surrounding asylum.
With regard to Democratic Republic of the Congo there will be more information given regarding the situation in the country and that of our own DRC asylum seekers. February is the anniversary of the charter flight which took our family from Middlesbrough to Kinshasa. We are still actively seeking to help this family and will plan how to highlight their plight at this meeting.

Sunday 20th January 2008
The Catholic Church makes a resounding contribution to the educational endeavors of these lands and to the success achieved. Through Catholic schools and colleges, generations continue in the footsteps of their forbearers and migrants continue to find a welcome in their new “home”. So on this day, with our Christian partners, we invite people to ‘come and see’.
