Day of Prayer for Peace

Sunday 15th January is the Day of Prayer for Peace in our World. Pope Benedict, in his message to mark this time of prayer, encouraged the Church to educate young people in the ways of justice and peace. We can only do this if we ourselves are committed to working in our world to promote these qualities.

There will be a second collection for Pax Christi.

During our 9.30am Mass we will remember all those who have given their lives in the service of our country, as we recall their sacrifice. It is a powerful reminder of the need to pray and to work for justice and peace in our world.

We have managed to secure 100 tickets for Snow White at Middlesbrough Theatre, with tickets reduced from £14.50 to £11.50.

As we will be unable to get any more seats, they will be on a first come basis. There is a list at the back of church, and all monies to be paid by the end of October.

Maureen Whatley would like to thank the parishioners of St Clare’s for their prayers, sympathies, cards, and support following her husband Arthur’s recent death and funeral.

Maureen would especially like to thank Canon John for his kindness and support at this sad time and during Arthur’s illness.

Wynne sends her love, prayers and greetings to parishioners whom she remembers fondly. She is happily settled, though misses St Clare’s very much. She is well established in her new Parish and has a weekly visit from a 90 year old nun who brings her Communion!

Wynne is most appreciative for prayers and good wishes and says she will always treasure the warmth and lasting friendships she enjoyed during the many years in our Parish.

Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Dressmaking Workshop

Starting September 2011, basic sewing skills through to more advanced skills (such as taking a pattern off an existing item of clothing and re-creating in the same or different fabric) will be taught in the Parish Room.

The workshop will be two hours per week on either a Monday or Friday evening.

Open to all ages, and no experience required. You may bring your own sewing machine, but some will be available for use within the group.
