The Pauline Year

Other stuff

As part of our celebration of the Pauline Year, the year of preparation for the 2,000th anniversary of the great missionary to the Gentiles, we have a number of prayer booklets available from the table at the back of church; only £2 each.

Later this year, to mark the Pauline Year, a new Catholic book shop will open in York. Bishop Terry will perform the opening ceremony and bless a new bookshop on King’s Square in York on Thursday 11th September at 12.30 pm.

The shop, run by St Pauls, an activity of the Society of St Paul, will be in the heart of York between the Minster and the Shrine of St Margaret Clitherow. The Society of St Paul, founded in the last century by Blessed James Alberione, is a community of Catholic priests and brothers whose work is to promote the Gospel and the teachings of the Catholic Church by means of social communication. They have publishing houses and Christian retail outlets throughout the world, and the shop in York will be their fifth in the UK.

During the Pauline Year St Pauls will publish five new titles concerning St Paul. A complimentary copy of the first publication ‘The Greatest of these is Love’ written by Bishop Michael Campbell OSA (the Coadjutor Bishop of Lancaster) has been donated to the Parish Library, but is also available from St Pauls (www.stpauls.org.uk) priced at £6.99
