Do you have time to review a book?

I am occasionally sent promotional copies of books by publishers seeking reviews in the Catholic Voice. Unfortunately the Catholic Voice is not currently in a position to include book reviews due to pressure of space.

Which means I have a handful of books which will be put in the Parish Library, but I would really like to carry reviews for these books in the parish website (and maybe even in the newsletter, if space permits) so that our parishioners have some idea of each book before the book goes into the library.
So if any parishioner would like to review any of the following please contact me via email at
webmaster@stclare.org.uk

The books I currently have are

  • ‘Faith and Freedom’ a New York Times bestseller by Jimmy Carter (yes, that Jimmy Carter)
  • ‘The Stones Cry Out’ reflections from Israel and Palestine by Andrew Ashdown
  • ‘Sunday and Holyday Liturgies Cycle A’ Good News for the Poor by Colm Murphy
  • ‘Basilica, the Splendour and the Scandal’ Building St Peter’s by R.A. Scotti, and
  • ‘Benedictus’ A Book of Blessings by John O’Donohue author of the widely acclaimed ‘Anam Cara’
